2. What if I have a particular speaker in mind?

Cool! We're glad you're already excited about having one of OUR TEAM speak to you. Because people seem to be LOVING our speaking style and approach to our topics, we book up quickly. So there is always the potential that the person who you request is not available on that day. However, we want to reassure you that EVERY genWHY SPEAKER COMES WITH A 100% MONEY BACK GUARANTEE! This doesn't mean you will LOVE hearing all the hard stuff we have to tell you about generational diversity or why your communication skills stink, but it does mean that we will provide you with a high quality speaker who will deliver applicable content in an engaging and hilarious way.  If not, contact us, and we give you back your money. Also, if you choose to have a webinar and the technology doesn't come through clearly then please let us know. It is IMPORTANT to us that we "do right" by our customers. If it wasn't good enough for you, then it wasn't good enough for us. (Reminder: This does not mean our content will be sunshine and rainbows... there's a good shot that someone will be uncomfortable with the changes we are asking you to make! The CONTENT isn't part of this deal, only the delivery!)

P.S. If you KNOW Kristin do you honestly think she would EVER let anyone other than a fabulous speaker deliver her content for her company? Heck NO! Most of the speakers were her college students and took multiple public speaking courses with her and possessed a unique ability to deliver. Not one speaker works for Kristin (who has heard, literally, THOUSANDS, of speeches over her 11 years of teaching Communications at the University of Alabama in Huntsville) that she does not consider to be genuinely talented. Content can be taught, the ability to captivate an audience cannot, so that is what she looks for in an employee first!

3. How long are your presentations normally?

Believe it or not, because we have so much research, it is actually harder to pair down our content then to make it longer. Our standard presentations are 1.5 hours long (don't worry your audience will be CAPTIVATED the entire time). However, we know that sometimes you only have an hour to fill. Shortening to 30 minutes takes major work and crossing over 2 hours does the same. We love to do it, but the standard ones are 1-1.5 hours.

1. What are your costs?

While we are ALL ABOUT transparency in price, the honest answer to this is "it depends."  Your cost will be calculated based on the following things:

A) Who do you want as a speaker? Speakers with more experience, such as Kristin, cost more than those who are currently gaining keynote experience. If price is a major factor, please take into consideration that ALL of our speakers are amazing, and you CAN likely find one that will meet your budget.

B)  How far away is your presentation venue from Huntsville, AL? genWHY does not charge for travel within Madison County, AL.  Any travel outside of Madison County will require mileage reimbursement.  Additionally, if your venue is more than 3 hours one way from Madison County OR is an early morning presentation in another city, you will be requested to provide hotel stay and mileage. Airfare may also be negotiated as a part of our price.

c) Are you buying trainings as a part of a package? We offer discounts to organizations that buy more than one training at a time. For example, if you estimate you're going to need 5 total hours of training from us this year then you will SAVE more buying it all in one package up front (especially as demand grows).

d) Will you require follow-up consulting? Costs for Keynotes and Half-day/Full-day training programs are different than hourly consulting rates. Please be sure to ask us how much the cost would be based on how many hours you are anticipating needing our one-on-one consulting.

e) How big is your event and how much customization will it require? Groups of 20 have different needs than groups of 2,000. Luckily, genWHY Communication speakers can appeal to both! If your topic is highly specialized, for example, Homebuilding for Future Generations, Communicating in Social Work, Leading & Motivating Aerospace Employees, or Generational Fundraising for Nonprofit Organizations, then your costs may be different due to the extensive research we will need to do to to ensure that the presentation strikes the right chord with your audience.

4. Can you send me your presentation slides?

The short answer to this is, no, we can't. Presentations are the LIFE-BLOOD of professional speakers. If we give you all the goods then what do you need us for? You CAN, however, get some awesome supplemental material like handouts and reminder sheets by going to RESOURCES. While you're there, check out our upcoming podcasts, videos, and online learning.

5. Where does your research come from?

Our research comes from Kristin Scroggin's 11 years of teaching at the University of Alabama Huntsville. While employed there she sought IRB approval to allow her to research her students. Kristin had students regularly complete surveys, participate in focus groups, and engage in interviews to gain most of her research on Millennials. It was important to gain a wide variety of perspectives so she was very intentional about having good mixes of gender, race, region of the US, religion, political affiliation, and socio-economic backgrounds. While 46% of those researched were raised "in the South," the answers from surveys were regularly examined against students from other regions and norms across all regions were determined. Focus groups and surveys on Baby Boomers & GenXers have also been regularly conducted.

We believe that we have one of the most complete views of generations at work and are regularly told after presentations, by people of all ages in all areas of the country, that they saw themselves and their perspectives clearly represented in our content and were more able to openly hear the views of other generations because of that.

Is it possible that you heard our content and that it doesn't match you at all? Absolutely! However, I would check to see how much of an OUTLIER you are first! Chances are there are things in your life that have made you "not fit" within your generation. Generational studies is just ONE LAYER of the complex human being you are, but it IS a layer, and we can make some pretty educated guesses on how those in your generation are going to act and feel about that.
